Things Retired People Do

 So the good news is, I've been doing lots of writing, and the bad news is, I've gotten somewhat bogged down in the planning of it all. Pantsing Yeah, I'm one of those, so up until recently - when I decided to take the writing to a more serious level than just composing thoughtful comments to other people's content - I would sit down and... write. I would go over the piece several times, of course, cleaning it up, editing and arranging my thoughts. Boom. Done. Plotting Apparently pantsing is not how most writers do it, instead spending days, weeks, months even, painstakingly plotting out every act, scene, situation, characters, nuance.  And completely sucking all the fun out of actually writing the story. Middle Ground I'm currently exploring the possibility that I might benefit from SOME plotting - more than a few scribbled notes on post-its, anyway - and have fallen into the rabbit-hole of the various story structures out there.  As tiny as my backyard is, gardens both vegetable and floral, plus the grass and patio... well it's quite enough to keep an old broad like me gainfully occupied. All Hallows' Eve - Initial Cleanup On October 31st, my father's deathday, my mood was tenuous at best. The void yawned. So as a counterbalance, Mother Nature was kind enough to send us a day of glorious weather after a frosty night that had dipped to about -2 degrees Celsius. Rake in hand, I ventured into the yard and saw that our neighbour's chestnut tree had, to a leaf, dropped its organic linen, all over my yard. Hard work is my personal key to any kind of mentalz, so I set to. Aaaaand finished up about six hours later with a clearer head and reasonably tidy yard. Going Forward I have tried vlogging and indeed I have a YouTube channel, but the drama there can be extraordinarily toxic. I am choosing to stay clear of it.
